Western Pasqueflower, Pulsatilla occidentalis (sometimes called Anemone occidentalis)
These pictures were all taken at Crater Lake National Park in August.
The seeds can become quite feathery and long, almost comical.
Each strand (achene) is a single 'fruit' and contains one seed.
They are like little pompoms in the air - wispy and fun.
This is the flower that precedes the seed head, taken at Mount Rainier in early Spring.
